Journey with LCN for Holy Week

Please see the posting on the lower right of the home page regarding the cancellation of all in-person services through April 26th.

Maundy Thursday (April 9) - 7pm via Zoom
In collaboration with Grace Lutheran Church in Needham, we will gather as Jesus' disciples to receive a word of forgiveness and hear anew Jesus' mandatum (command, where the word "Maundy" comes from) to "love one another as I have loved you."
Call the office or see the weekly newsletter for access instructions.

Things to gather before the service:
  • a candle
  • pitcher or other pouring receptacle with warm water in it
  • a large bowl that can catch water
  • a towel
  • hand lotion

Good Friday (April 10th)
Children's Service - 4pm via Zoom
Join Pastor Kari Jo for a child's-level exploration of the Good Friday service. To participate, call the office or see the newsletter.

Meditative Service - 7pm - 8:30pm, live-streamed on Facebook

A service of poetic and musical reflections on the Passion of Jesus Christ according to Matthew. Information on the LiveStream and a copy of the liturgy will be sent out through the newsletter.

Easter Vigil (Saturday, April 11th) -  7pm via Zoom
The Easter Vigil is the pinnacle and most joyful service of the entire church year. At sundown on the night before Easter, Christians gather for a service that can only be described as "pulling out all the stops" - a celebration of Easter that uses every tool in the toolbox available to us to say "Jesus Christ is Risen!

Things to gather before the service:
  • If you are able to safely do so, we invite you to light a fire outside, in a fire place or with a candle;
  • An additional candle for each person that can burn for about 30 minutes;
  • In place of a real candle a LED tea light or candle, flashlight or or phone candle app can be used;
  • An empty bowl and water pitcher with water in it;
  • small branch from your yard, or your palm from last week;
  • Bells, tambourine, shakers or any other thing you can find to make a joyous noise.

Easter Sunday (April 11th) - 10am Livestream
Death could not defeat God's love, and the Corona virus will not stop us from proclaiming "Christ is Risen! Indeed! Alleluia!" Look for a separate email to come with a link to the liturgy and instructions about where to find the livestream.
